Historical Fencing

Notes by Alex Munro, fencer at Stoccata from Australia

Thanks for Subscribing!

Currently, I'm in the process of transcribing and translating Nobleza de la espada. I'm utilizing GPT-4 via ChatGPT to expedite the process. My aim is to produce a readable, searchable, and indexable translation, enabling a broader audience to engage with Rada's works. While the translation might not be flawless, I'm hopeful that any discrepancies will balance out across the approximately 1,000 pages.

Upon completion, I intend to create summaries, potentially focusing on specific topics or concepts, and cross-referencing the original texts in a series of interconnected notes.

In the long run, and to aid our instruction at Stoccata, I aspire to adapt this science of the sword to the Constraints-Lead Approach. This endeavor seeks to guide students in practicing La Verdadera Destreza in accordance with Rada's principles, sidestepping Rada's emphasis on rote learning (and asking students to read the original)

I hope you enjoy going on this journey with me.
